Rawson-Saunders is a private full curriculum day school for dyslexic children in grades 1-8. Each student receives academic language therapy every day with sessions limited to one or two students. Language therapists are trained in Orton-Gillingham techniques (Basic Language Skills and Alphabetic Phonics), Lindamood-Bell (LIPs, Visualizing & Verbalizing, and Seeing Stars), Project Read Written Expression, Neuhaus Multi-sensory Grammar, and draw from other programs as needed. Classroom teachers use methods and some curriculum specifically for dyslexic students. Classes are limited to 8 students. Enrichment program includes art, woodworking, P.E., and Destination Imagination.

  • Students who have been accepted for tutoring attend the learning center five days a week, for one hour each day in the afternoon.

The Learning Center is recognized as a national training site for educators by the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) and the International Multi-sensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC). This recognition is bestowed on teacher training centers that adhere to stringent training requirements and are qualified to prepare educators to become Certified Academic Language Therapists through the Academic Lanugage Therapy Association.
